Alas! The post that I was meant to have up last week, if only it didn’t rain! (Typical British weather, really.) It’s getting to the end of August now and needless to say, this is a late post in-the-making so expect a long one. 😉 (If you’re a follower of some time, you’re probably used to my long posts by now; if you’re new – I’m sorry! But you’ll have to get used to this, haha!) Enjoy! One of the things that I love using my bullet journal for is to list down products and ideas for the blog. These may be products for favourites, to buy and try out in the future and for review. I’ve kept these pages really simple and information-friendly – it’s strictly a list with a note beside it if I think it’s necessary. I’ve since listed my favourites when on-the-go, on my phone, using the app Google Keep. I even list my to-be-empties and tick them off once I’ve 100% finished. Identity | Textiles/Embroidery Project

Foundation Diploma in Art & Design Final Major Project (2011) Majored in Textiles/Fashion. Final grade: Distinction. Chosen theme ‘Identity’ that sought out to explore the definition of my identity which I largely alluded to my childhood. In particular, my fondest memories told in photographs that are later sampled into illustrative embroideries of various colours, textures and techniques. This later developed into a specialist project concerning maternity wear, whereby my memories – happy memories, are used as a blessing for the mother and her child. Similarly, this could work for childrenswear or other materials. Through this project, I harnessed the creativity of embroidery through self-teach and trial and error. This moment was pivotal in becoming my first real step in learning how to ‘sew’ and control a sewing machine effectively. As such, the project holds much importance in my series of work. Colour is absolutely fundamental to my fashion wardrobe, my design mentality and visual inspirations. It is the first thing I notice when I go shopping, very shortly followed by texture and feel. I always think about colour/fabric palettes, and how well one goes with the other even when unconsciously dressing oneself in the morning. My mind is able to make an instinctive decision somehow, when it comes to wear. There is always at least one pop of colour and so below are ways to incorporate different quantities of colour in as little as a lipstick or as much as a coat. Dare to try I say, you only live once.
