Gucci & Its Ever-Growing Relevance in 2017

If I could crown a fashion house for being able to embrace change, whilst still remaining relevant and true to itself, then I would happily crown Gucci as the winner. It’s increasingly become hard it seems, to take over a brand, revamp its image and receive positive appraisal. Or at least the last few years say so as many Creative Directors fail to stay longer than 3 years as sales and show response have been nothing short of mediocre. I won’t be naming any names in that category but I will say that Gucci have been going anywhere but down. Sure. The Gucci woman today is different to previous generations but somehow it just works. Sexy woman becomes eclectic geek chic because…why can’t a sexy woman be smart anyways? And dress well? Here, I’m dissecting the brand’s continuing success if you will – in snapshots of what makes Gucci so talked about and coveted, even amongst the youth; especially amongst the youth. The ‘GG’ Logo Makes For A Great Design If there is something to own by Gucci, then it is the belt. …

The Beauty Clean-Up #1

This is essentially an empties post however I decided to put it under a different name – The Beauty Clean-up, as to put forward I guess, an ongoing project that I have been thinking about for a while. For months even. Once you become a beauty enthusiast, it’s very easy to also become a hoarder because really and truly, there are only so many products you use in a day, in a week, in a year. So naturally, there will be products that don’t get used as much, that get left behind – is it a lie to think we need all these products in our lives? I like to think of myself as a smart shopper, but in the recent year or so, my beauty drawer has been expanding and it bothers me in the sense that no matter how good the products are, I’m not using them up simply because they’re not being touched! Therefore, I am challenging myself to use up many of these products whilst not buying anything for the rest of the year …

October Monthly Favourites ft. Konjac Sponges, Bourjois + Carmex

The cold started to really settle in towards the end of this month, so I hope everyone has geared up, whether it’s their skincare, makeup or clothes, shoes and accessories 🙂 Most of this month’s favourites are products that I use from time to time, but due to the seasonal change, it has become more effective in my day-to-day routine. Using the perfect product under the right circumstances (i.e. skin type/problem, weather) is essential but not always easy to master! Here are my favourites for this month:  Konjac Sponges Miaroma’s Sweet Almond Oil Hada Labo Super Hyaluronic Acid Lotion Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum Foundation (in 52 Vanilla) Nyx Tame & Frame Brow Pomade (in 04 Espresso) LUSH Mint Julips Lip Scrub Carmex Cherry Tube Exfoliating doesn’t feel like a chore with this tool: Back in June, I bought two konjac sponges from TK Maxx at £4.99 each. Prior to that, I knew about the existence of konjac sponges but had not fully researched it until I saw it in-store. Only recently had I begun to use one for body exfoliating, …

#PFW S/S17 Welcome to the Revolution! | Favourites 2

Known as the ‘City of Love’. Love for so many things that do not exclude Fashion. Love for the Arts, the People, the Culture. This is Paris! Sacai This is one of the newer brands in my vocabulary that I’m getting to know more and more about 🙂 and this season may have been their strongest collection to date! To give you a little insight, the brand is founded by Chitose Abe who previously worked as a pattern cutter under Rei Kawakubo at Comme Des Garçons and later, as a design member at Junya Watanabe. From there on, you can expect super creativity but it doesn’t stop there. No. It never stops. The dreams keep rolling. The aesthetic of Sacai is fresh, exciting and ever-evolving that moving from New York to Paris to show, cements its worth. You can expect the mixing of different fabrics from Sacai – quite like collage, executed with such finesse that the idea of collage was a second thought. The clothes though! It’s worth seeing any video footage you can find, as …

#PFW S/S17 Creative Souls | Favourites 1

Known as the ‘City of Love’. Love for so many things that do not exclude Fashion. Love for the Arts, the People, the Culture. This is Paris! When it comes to Paris, the focus is inevitably on the famous Fashion Houses. But what remains always challenging and evolving is the stories and legacy that they continue to build upon. This is about how the present is effected by the past to ensure the future for these Fashion Houses. As you may know from some of my previous posts, some big brands have gone down a 180 degree route after the appointment of its newest creative director. In this post though, we’re not talking about any 180 degree flip although can’t say it’s remained at 0 degrees either! Balmain The appointment of Olivier Rousteing has had an enormous effect on Balmain. The other good news? He’s not going anywhere just yet. Not when he shows a collection like this! (If one day, he decides to, I’m sure that he will also show a stunning collection by …
